SapuraKencana unit bags ExxonMobil contract worth between RM300mil and RM500m

KUALA LUMPUR: SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd’s unit has secured a contract from ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc valued at between RM300mil and RM500mil.

SapuraKencana said its Kencana HL Sdn Bhd had on May 16 accepted the contract to provide hook-up and commissioning and topside major maintenance services.

The contract was for a primary term of five years with an option to extend for another year.

“It includes the supply of manpower and equipment, material purchased and provision of marine spread. The total value of the contract is based on unit rates for the services provided estimated at between RM300mil and RM500mil over the contract period,” it said.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that RHB Research said SapuraKencana was bidding for jobs worth about RM18bil.

Quoting industry sources, the research firm said the bidding included Petrobras’ seven pipelay support vessels worth some RM7bil to RM8bil. Petrobras is a semi-public Brazilian multinational energy corporation.
