Thailand’s PTTEP has turned its attention back to the Gulf of Thailand where the state-owned operator is looking to add up to another dozen platforms at its flagship Arthit gas condensate development to maintain domestic gas production.

Up to four wellhead platforms have been added to the producing Arthit development each year since start-up in 2008.

In 2011, Thai Nippon Steel (TNS) was awarded a contract from PTTEP for fabrication and installation work over two and a half years at Arthit and the neighbouring Bongkot gas field.

Given the TNS multi-platform deal is expiring, PTTEP has returned to the market this year, but with two separate offers of long-term contracts for Bongkot and Arthit.
